Lost beauty Evangeline Lilly has told how she was attracted to co-star Dominic Monaghan because she can’t resist British people.
The Canadian actress, who plays striking Kate Austen on the hit TV show, says their “self-deprecating hunmour and sarcasm” turns her on.
The couple are said to have got engaged after falling head-over-heels for each other after meeting on the set of the island saga about 48 stranded plane crash survivors in which Monaghan plays rock star Charlie.
Evangeline will not officially confirm her relationship with a man whose most famous role was as a hobbit in Lord of the Rings.
She said: “It is still rumoured. Dom is a really spectacular person. And I’d rather leave it at that.”
But she went on: “Dom and I have always connected. We’re both obsessed with bugs and when we were filming the pilot we’d run around the jungle colecting them! We have lots of fun playing together.”
Asked what she loves apart from liquorice, Haagen-Daz ice cream and cheese she said: “British people - their self-deprecating humour and sarcasm.”
And readily admitting she wants several children when she gets married Evangeline tells Glamour magazine: “I absolutely love them.”
She also revealed she shies away from the Hollywood party scene because she cannot stand the place.
The raven haired actress said: “Hollywood is the Sodom and Gomorrah of today. It’s a world I avoid because it’s destroying our culture.
“And yet I’ve recently seen a turnaround. People like George Clooney and Michael Moore are using Hollywood as a platform to send out positive messages.”
But she has got one vice she can’t give up - taking down her knickers in public.
Evangeline said handsome co-star Matthew Fox who plays Dr Jack thinks “I’m weird because three or four times we’ve been filming in the bushes and I’ve relieved myself within 15 feet of him.
“I’m like ‘OK, I have about 30 seconds before they call action and I gotta pee - I’m goin’!'”
She also confesses she once peed in a car-park garbage bin to win a 20 dollar bet with another co-star Jorge ‘Hurley’ Garcia.
She said: “Jorge won’t dare me to do anything now because I scare him. I’m not a quintessential Hollywood starlet by any means.”
Despite her abhorrence of Hollywood she still harbours dreams of a film career in “meaningful roles.” She struggles with her conscience and attempts to make her image in photo shoots “portray strength or intelligence.”
Said Evangeline: “I try not to be the sweet girl with perky boobs and make-up - because I’m not.”
