· Lilly Faces Plane Boredom    ·    August 21st, 2006

Lost star Evangeline Lilly is dreading flying following the strict new security measures enforced to avert terrorist attacks on planes - because she can no longer sew. The actress uses a needle and thread to while away hours jetting between the US, her Canada home and the Hawaii set of the TV drama - but can no longer pack the essential equipment, because all dangerous objects, as well as liquids, have been banned from hand luggage. She tells Celebrity Week, “What drives me crazy is that I can’t bring my needle and thread on a plane. I really like to sew.”

· ‘Lost’ cast discuss new season and Emmy disappointment    ·    August 18th, 2006

The surviving cast of the award winning serial, Lost had a reunion of sorts at Ola Restaurant at Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu. The occasion was the release of the DVD titled “Lost: The Complete Second Season - The Extended Experience”, priced at $60 that will be available in stores by September 5. The cast used the occasion to talk about the third season of the serial among other things.Executive producer Bryan Burk talked about the underground bunker, which was the setting for most of the second season and said that its five minutes of fame was over. “The hatch has definitely had its moment. Lets just say it was one big explosion”, he said. The other cast members who attended the party were Evangeline Lilly, Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway, Terry O’Quinn, Daniel Dae Kim and Yunjim Kim.

The resort is located at around a 20-minute drive from where much of the serial is being filmed. One thing that was prominently discussed was the Emmy snub. However Lilly, who will present the Emmys on August 27, was not too bothered about the lack of nominations. “My first reaction to it was, `Good.’ I don’t want us to become that show that becomes so righteous, so above everything else, that we’re untouchable,” she observed.
“When we started, our big question was, `Will anybody even watch this show?’ And then when people started watching, we were thrilled. And then when we got recognized critically, we were beside ourselves. So, when we didn’t get nominated, all we had to do was remember where we came from,” she said.

Even writer and executive producer Carlton Cuse shrugged off the Emmy problem and said that right now they needed to focus on the third season. “Were we disappointed that we didn’t get a nomination for the show? Yes.” he said. “But the show has been so blessed: the attention, the success. We’re not going to focus too long on what we don’t have.”

In the first season Lost featured the original plane-crash survivors and their life on the deserted island. The second season was all about people who were in the tail end of the plane and assumed dead. This year its an entirely different story. Lost will beam on ABC on October 4.

· Lilly’s Bandage Look    ·    August 18th, 2006

Lost beauty Evangeline Lilly sported a new look at Tuesday’s (15AUG06) premiere of the DVD release of the hit TV show’s second season - a white bandage covering her entire left foot. The 27-year-old actress cut herself twice on a coral reef while swimming in the sea off Hawaii, where Lost is filmed. She tells website Celebrity Week, “I cut it on a coral reef while I was surfing. “Then I proceeded to go out in the surf the next day at the same spot and cut the same foot on the same coral.” A jokingly worried Lilly adds, “Coral can infect to the degree that it will actually cause you to have to amputate!”

· Lost Cast: ‘Old And Boring’    ·    August 10th, 2006

Evangeline Lilly has her own theory why the LOST cast barely feature in gossip columns - they’re too old and boring. The Canadian model admits most of her castmates are married and have families, so are unlikely to be falling drunk out of nightclubs and dating other celebrities. Lilly says, “There’s not much drinking because a lot of the cast are married with children. “If we were all 23, it’d be terrifying; confined to an island, constantly partying. The tabloids would have a field day.”

She says, “(I need to help people or I’d be) no better than the Paris Hiltons of the world, waltzing around with their Louis Vuitton bags and their little dogs. “Those people couldn’t give a rat’s a*s if somebody was starving in the street next to them.”

· ‘Lost’ beauty can’t resist Brits    ·    August 7th, 2006

Lost beauty Evangeline Lilly has told how she was attracted to co-star Dominic Monaghan because she can’t resist British people.

The Canadian actress, who plays striking Kate Austen on the hit TV show, says their “self-deprecating hunmour and sarcasm” turns her on.

The couple are said to have got engaged after falling head-over-heels for each other after meeting on the set of the island saga about 48 stranded plane crash survivors in which Monaghan plays rock star Charlie.

Evangeline will not officially confirm her relationship with a man whose most famous role was as a hobbit in Lord of the Rings.

She said: “It is still rumoured. Dom is a really spectacular person. And I’d rather leave it at that.”

But she went on: “Dom and I have always connected. We’re both obsessed with bugs and when we were filming the pilot we’d run around the jungle colecting them! We have lots of fun playing together.”

Asked what she loves apart from liquorice, Haagen-Daz ice cream and cheese she said: “British people - their self-deprecating humour and sarcasm.”

And readily admitting she wants several children when she gets married Evangeline tells Glamour magazine: “I absolutely love them.”

She also revealed she shies away from the Hollywood party scene because she cannot stand the place.

The raven haired actress said: “Hollywood is the Sodom and Gomorrah of today. It’s a world I avoid because it’s destroying our culture.

“And yet I’ve recently seen a turnaround. People like George Clooney and Michael Moore are using Hollywood as a platform to send out positive messages.”

But she has got one vice she can’t give up - taking down her knickers in public.

Evangeline said handsome co-star Matthew Fox who plays Dr Jack thinks “I’m weird because three or four times we’ve been filming in the bushes and I’ve relieved myself within 15 feet of him.

“I’m like ‘OK, I have about 30 seconds before they call action and I gotta pee - I’m goin’!'”

She also confesses she once peed in a car-park garbage bin to win a 20 dollar bet with another co-star Jorge ‘Hurley’ Garcia.

She said: “Jorge won’t dare me to do anything now because I scare him. I’m not a quintessential Hollywood starlet by any means.”

Despite her abhorrence of Hollywood she still harbours dreams of a film career in “meaningful roles.” She struggles with her conscience and attempts to make her image in photo shoots “portray strength or intelligence.”

Said Evangeline: “I try not to be the sweet girl with perky boobs and make-up - because I’m not.”
